reid-NEW : They've yet to meet but Grandpa, from Calgary, marked his newborn grandsons' arrival with a FRESHbaby shoot. Baby Jace, now 2wks, was a dream model: alert, in good form and practically immobile {just the way I like em!} And big sister Milan couldn't be cuter!
Hope this helps satiate your appetite for grandkid cuddles, at least until your official meeting. And did you notice your wooden train present on the bookshelf picture?
Thanks again Grandpa, from Calgary, and family who let me rearrange their cupboards and furniture and let me stay way too long. You were very accomodating!
Grandparents out there, take note, there's something in a shoot for everyone; photos make great gifts!

brett.amanda : When my 5yr old daughter came to me squealing "it's raining!" with ladybug rainslicker and tinkerbell umbrella in hand, I didn't share her enthusiasm. Clearly she doesn't remember living on the coast, or that mommy had a GARDEN wedding to shoot!
Did I mention there was no backup plan?
A rainstorm rang in the August wedding marathon, but by ceremony time the clouds were parting, sun shining and so were we! (And the other bride we ran into:)
I liked Brett from the moment I found out he had prepared a "secret slideshow" for his bride at the reception and was with-holding their honeymoon destination until the day of. How romantic!
These guys were all about family: football family, his & hers family. I'm pretty efficient with the group shots after this one. Congratulations Brett & Amanda!

    e.sesson : Warning:
Seriously cute images below (only one includes objectionable content.) Surely these will convince you to go for the e.session. Imagine how you can use the images for the wedding: phoot-invites, prints for the book signing table, even personalized wedding favors. Even more fun is integrating these spunky images into your wedding coffeetable album - so FRESH!

    cole.kaeli : Uber glam!
How tough I have it, spending a day shooting beautiful people in lovely scenery. I knew to expect a stylish event when, at our consultation, the girls were making a ribbon table chart in fresh colors of sherbet. Did they read the
FRESHideas bridal trends emagazine to discover the color of the season is all things orange?
Their style translated to white oversized 50's sunglasses, music en francaise, exquisite garden statuary, and mouth-watering food. Oh yeah, and they're the nicest people you'll ever meet!
This was one wedding that I wished to be a guest at, just so I could sample delicacies, see those tents aglow and dance under the twinkle lights well into the night. What a party!
The couple - so pleasant to work with; the bride - so stunning!

e.session-NEWish : Should I admit this wasn't an actual e.session? In my defence, it reads like one, 'non'? Glaring give-away: this is not what November looks like in my neck of the woods!
I've visited the archives for this one: the Truly line of organic clothes came calling for their 08 catalog and I've recently been "tweaking". The result is such that I can't believe it's not my most current work! I've got so many cool tricks to try out on you all - I'm giddy!
I'm actively recruiting work involving bridal couples, grads, trash-the-dressers & kids...And (shameless plug alert...) GIFT CERTIFICATES make great gifties!

stefan.bridget : After this one, I am - officially - unafraid of the large group photo. It helps to have numerous beautiful friends should you wish to have a large wedding party, as Bridget & Stefan had. Does 15 constitute as large?
We girls had some group fun in golden fields "think taxes!" and joined up with the guys for a ceremony over-looking Christina Lake on a stunning September day! We then trekked to the beach with family in tow, felt a little sand between the toes and set out for Bridget's family camping spot on Kettle River. I love that she chose somewhere personal; it offers another level of sentimentality (is that a word?)
A great big thanks to Whitney who assisted in the photo & fun department! Of course to the lovely couple.
And ohhh the shoes...
Bridget commented at her consultation (in response to shoe-crazy FRESHsite) "Guess I'll have to get some cool shoes". Did she ever deliver, even jr.flowergirl who was pushed down the aisle in her baby-buggy was sporting red shoes. So stylin!

mine : 2-2-2shoots in 1! My current life in a nutshell: kids, hubby, assistant and me, surrounded by salvage & rust - lovin it!
The first shoot is when mommy turns into photozilla (I consequently realize, a photo-momma does not a model make); the second is my turn to be schooled. I'm not exactly a natural; there's a reason I'm always on the other side of the lens. But I had a clear vision about what I wanted for the shoot, sourced it out and had the most fun editing with the new PShop! I'm forever grateful to photo-friends Whitney & Dirk for making me look good and dispelling the - "cobbler's kids going without shoes" - thing.
I'd add more but designed the Christmas cards around this shoot so, tough, you'll have to wait. And make sure you're on my list!

brown : Owners of beloved local establishment, The Alpine Grind, the Brown's lifestyle portraits were in typical Rossland fashion: outdoors with dog!
Little Libby was a treat to watch discovering fall. She was quite the blur on camera -going here there and everywhere. And it took some focus to make sure I included her parents (also beautiful people) because little Libby is quite the looker. Although mom does this cute scrunchy-nose thing when she smiles that rivals her daughters' adorableness.
Actually, their "priority #2" after family, was couple shots - which most of us haven't had since our wedding.
Side note: that would be 13 years for me&mine! Am I old enough for that?
They were a smiley, happy-pleasure to hang with. I get connected to my subjects; thankfully, I can see the Brown's anytime I want AND get my java-fix simultaneously. See you soon!

    jp.vanessa : So, where do I start?
Even for a girl living in a mountain town, autumn in Fernie BC is impres-sive! I have rarely felt so small (just that time sailing off Australian shores when I could no longer see Australia), for a few reasons. For one, everywhere you look there are jagged, snow-speckled, dramatic peaks, framing your view. And I got to take it all, including brick warehouses, revamped train station, gor-geous court house (have I mentioned I love old things???) over 3-days, sans kids, (which ups my ability to even take in my surroundings:). I love JP & Vanessa for choosing the "family place", even though they're living in Saskatchewan. That's right, flat ol' Sask; couldn't get more diverse landscapes!
And their numerous, international guests - very loyal might I add - appreciated them for it as well. We were an obvious bunch of craned necked, wide-eyed tourists! Fed my travel bug...for now.
Ohh yeah, and we were all looking up to the vertically-blessed bride & groom too.
These two (and their also numerous wedding party) were a delight to hang with - from the couples' emotional ceremony - to the family-oriented, and model tall - have I mentioned tall - wedding party - to their equally easy natures. All good!
Poor girls were a wee bit cold (especially California girls!) so we stopped in at Rocky Mtn Chocolate Factory for a hot chocolate "cheers" and a ring shot on the candy apples (also their wedding favors). Sweeeet!
This one was a well-oiled machine; who doesn't like a quaint little town, a little travel and a whole lotta sugar? Nicely done JP & V and associates; thank you for entrusting me with your memories!

    jp.vanessa

dorian.amy : Isn't it PAPER for your tenth? These guys clearly did not comply with traditional anniversary custom; they chose DIAMONDS and got married ... "finally" (as some said.) The intimate event was quite the mix of truly elegant tradition and bad-ass breakin-the-rules. Can I say that? While we shot, quite formally, on the bridge over the little stream at the golf course - (yes, I know you've seen those beautiful shots before)- I also hung off a golf cart (driven wildly by fearless assistant) to get some action shots on the green before we headed off to the hanger for the bride to hang out of a helicopter. Yep, cool eh?
Dory, true fearless Search & Rescue man, hooked us up to get some edgy shots. And you've gotta give it to - very sophisticated - Amy for being up for it all. The head-table was also decked in lovely heirloom linens; now this is what it means to infuse YOU in your photos!
My best to you guys and may you celebrate many many more decades of anniversaries! (You can always do PAPER next year)

prommer : One of my favorite family's of all time!
For those that think you've seen them before, Cole & Kaeli were FRESHwedd last year. It was the kind of wedding - and the kind of people - with whom I wanted to stay long after time was up. So much fun! Doesn't hurt, for my job, that they're quite an attractive lot!
Our FRESHfam session didn't disappoint. We hung out before sunset on a stunning September eve and shared some good belly-laughs. Thanks for the entertainment!
So much more to come...

    prommer

jim.krista : Ahh,it's arrived; the long-awaited nuptuals of Krista & Jim - only what...3 years in the works? I've so been looking forward to working with these guys. Krista holds a special place in my heart; losing her mom has meant she planned a wedding without her. But I was delighted to meet Jim and see his adoration for his bride. In fact, he hand-made the iron centerpieces for her - sweet!
We had a good time together on the hottest day of summer - Krista looking cool in the driver's seat of his vintage Impala - just one thing missing...air conditioning! I was seriously drained for this one. Luckily, they were incredibly cute and everything they did was "photo-worthy".
I loved hanging out and drinking cold beer on a HOT day with what now feels like friends! And at the end of it all, I was looking forward to a SLURPEE brain freeze!
Does anyone else think she looks a little like Gwen Stefani (especially driving)?

FRESHwedd rossland : For professional reasons, I'll keep this Rossland couple's wedding gallery uber-private.
Their country-fresh affair included a visit to her family farm where we enjoyed the colorful blooms, frolicked in fields and picked apples. It was very much a family celebration, including Haida rings for their boys during the ceremony. And with as many little -as big - people on the guest list, some serious kid-tainment was called for. But kid-savvy bride had it covered with bubbles, bouncy castle, glow sticks and sparklers to name a few. And local live band, Los Gringos, took care of the adults who did some candle-light dancing under patio lanterns.

alexander.jill : Do you have a friend that can cycle across Canada solo, raise tadpoles from hand and quilt?
And this is just an intro to the world of my friend Darcee. I was priveledged to shoot 2 sessions for her, including kids (seriously, how cute!) and some maternity shots (find these at the FRESHmaternity gallery) before she pops. Did I mention she's 9mos along with her third and I had to ask her to "stick it out"?
Beautiful family Darc; can't wait to meet Charlie-or-Molly! Stay tuned for more photos.

james.jennifer : Nope, she's not a gorgeous model I hired to pose in a blizzard. Rather, congratulations Jennifer and Jamie on being thee coolest wedding couple, ever!
Combine a destination couple from Texas in a Rossland snowstorm (also robs the view) during winter carnival and an absent marriage commissioner and you're starting to get the picture. See the bystanders decked out in parkas and toques while Jenny's out there in her strappy gown! But as their photo-story shows, they had a blast! Well all for the (tallest) groomsmen whose shoulder a horse fully sneezed upon.
Other "don't miss photos" include the bridesmaids' dresses-front-and-back and the adorable chair favors . And thank you to The Prestige who really knows how to take care of their guests!
We all wish you joy J&J; you've earned it!

    james.jennifer

steve.leah : Another wild winter wedding!
Besides her grandmother's beads, Lovely Leah was prepared with ivory fur stole, elegant satin gloves and matching white Sorels. I was decked out in toque and toe-warmers this time and had an arsenal of indoor and/or covered spots. I loved that these guys were up for my crazy ideas and let me drag them to some pretty suspect locations. Note how far the chairs sinks into the snow. Then check out their initials graffittied in the tunnel. And NO, I didn't deface public property!
With special gratitude to the Rossland Coffee & Tea company who helped keep us warm from the inside out! The Old Firehall also provided the most enviable light. And of course, to Steve & Leah who made my job a non-job. Wedded bliss you crazy Albertans!

Magazine Feature : 1 beautiful Mexican -plus- 1 Abercrombie/Albertan -plus- tropical beachy venue = the answer to why I sooo have the best job!
Take blue-liscous skies, a restored lemon-dreams Impala, and flower girls in turquise tutus and you're starting to get the picture. Oh yeah, a Jack Johnson-type strumming on the beach and a ceremony and get-away for the record books! Can you say "lov-ely day"?
Thanks for the laid-back attitudes, the Stellas, and letting me be a part of it all! PS BIG BIG thanks for a magazine-worthy wedding!

truly fashion shoot : A lovely group turned out for Nelson's "truly" spring/summer 08 shoot. We enjoyed ourselves with a picnic in the park complete with chocolate bread and goat goya cheese, celebrating the launch of the "truly" organic clothing line. Formerly producing bed linens, truly is branching out into the fashion world and, lucky me got to tag along for the ride. We managed to fit in a few shots of the clothes too. My gratitude to Cat and Leah for finding fresh and Ryan, Mike, Mina and Cheryl for some stellar standing, sitting, squatting and more standing!
Truly beautiful.

FRESHgrad : Americans get this one right; investing in cool "senior portraits" is commonplace across the border. Here's why: Do you want to be framed in a square hat or would you like to turn in the tassle for your choice in accessories? Do you want to sit in a studio with a piece of rolled-up paper or horse-back ride in the mountains?
I am sooo looking forward to the class of 09: college and high school.
With you grads, we have the opportunity to make wardrobe changes, visit edgy locations and be completely experimental (the jr.high of photo shoots!)
Finished product = images that truly reflect YOU. You look so good, why not order a gorgeous coffeetable album so mom can remember what you look like after you've gone off to "the real world"?
PS - That doesn't excuse your Christmas visit!
Stay tuned, COOL NEW GALLERY COMING SOON!
